About Street Avenger
The title screen makes Street Avenger look like the sort of game where you could rush in swinging. You can try, but the position of the other fighter matters quite a bit. The street has depth. If an enemy is standing a little above or below you, getting close on the screen isn't necessarily enough to make a kick connect.
There are three keys to learn on the fighting side of the keyboard. J kicks, K jumps and L charges. The split between those keys and WASD is handy once you get used to it, though it can take a round to stop reaching for the arrow keys out of habit.
How to play Street Avenger
Fight through the opponents blocking your way and make progress along the street.
- Choose Start at the title screen. Get used to moving towards and away from the foreground as well as left and right.
- Line up with an opponent before using J. If you're too far off their line, move first instead of repeating the same kick.
- Try the jump and charge separately so you know what each does. Then use them when there is space to see where you will end up.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| W / A / S / D | Move around the street. |
| J | Kick. |
| K | Jump. |
| L | Charge. |
Click or tap inside the game before using the keyboard. The fullscreen button below the player gives you more room; the restart button reloads the game.
Tips for a better round
- If two fighters are closing in, leave yourself some room to move. Getting stuck between them makes it harder to deal with either one.
- A missed kick is a good cue to look at your position. Move a little up or down before trying the next one.
