Who can use PlayFG?

Before a young person picks a game, please spend a few minutes looking around with them. PlayFG is intended for people aged thirteen and over. A higher local minimum age still applies. We do not have a separate children’s site, a parent dashboard or a system that verifies each visitor’s age.

Thirteen is not a recommendation for every game here. You may come across horror, weapons, fighting and suggestive material, including games that are unsuitable for anyone under eighteen. News stories may discuss adult games as well. If you need a place where a child can browse freely without encountering that material, our homepage will not meet that need.

What a category label can tell you

A puzzle can be frightening. A cartoon character can appear in a game meant for adults. Labels such as Kid, Cartoon, Funny and Puzzle tell you where we have put a game in the catalog; they do not give it a checked age rating.

Open the game page first and read what it involves. Then try a round yourself. Check the menu, the end of a round and the buttons that lead elsewhere. Is there chat? What can other players send? Look out for language, violence, frightening scenes, sexual or suggestive themes, gambling-like features and flashing images. A familiar face on the cover does not answer those questions.

Our descriptions explain how games work. They are not a formal ratings service. We cannot vouch for every later scene, advert or conversation, so please use your own judgment about what suits your family.

Before pressing Play

You do not have to learn every game in the catalog. Choose the one you are about to play and check that first. A few decisions made now are easier than an argument halfway through a round.

  • Pick a specific game together. Following recommendations can quickly turn it into a different session.
  • Choose a stopping point before you start: a timer, perhaps, or the end of a round. Agreeing on “a little longer” leaves rather a lot open.
  • Look for chat, multiplayer rooms, links to other sites and anything for sale.
  • Set up family, website and payment restrictions on the device if you need them. These are browser or device controls, not PlayFG settings.
  • Make it clear that the player can stop and ask for help. Nobody needs to finish a level that makes them uncomfortable.

On a shared computer, check the browser profile too. A game or video service may still be signed into somebody else’s account. A private window can leave less behind on the device, but it does not filter content or hide requests from the services receiving them.

When other players are involved

You can browse PlayFG without registering. At present we have no public comment feed or site-wide chat. That does not rule out an account, scoreboard or multiplayer room inside a game. The game operator runs those features and may have different rules, privacy arrangements and reporting tools.

Choose a nickname together if other players will see it. Leave out the young person’s real name, school, age and location. Passwords, photos and contact details should stay private. An invitation to move to another app, or a request to keep a conversation secret from a parent, deserves attention straight away.

Someone typing “I’m a moderator” has not proved who they are. Stop a threatening conversation and involve a trusted adult. Use mute, block or report where the game provides those tools. You can also tell us about it: we can review whether the game belongs on PlayFG, although we cannot identify every player or remove messages from another operator’s server ourselves.

Adverts, purchases and suspicious buttons

There is no PlayFG subscription to buy before browsing or starting a game. Advertising helps pay for the site. Show the young person our Play now button and the controls inside the game so they can tell them apart from nearby adverts. An advert’s promises come from its advertiser, not our editorial team.

A game or a page it links to might offer an app, paid items or another purchase. PlayFG does not currently take card payments. Before paying elsewhere, check who the seller is, the full price, any renewal and the refund terms. A browser game is no reason to hand over card details or install extra software.

If a banner announces a prize, claims the computer has a virus or insists on an urgent download, close it and tell us. Do not follow the instructions to see what happens. And please do not ask a child to click adverts as a way to support PlayFG.

What stays on a shared device

Your favorites, recently played list and appearance setting are kept in the browser you use. Games may save progress in their own storage. If somebody else uses the same browser profile, they may be able to see those saved details.

You can clear PlayFG site data to remove its local lists. Be careful with a game’s storage: clearing it may wipe saved progress as well. Clearing a browser does not pull back information already sent to a game operator or another service. For the details of session cookies, our visitor counter, Google advertising, hosting and security services, see the Privacy Policy. It also explains the choices available through browsers and providers.

If you think a child has sent personal information to us, please use the contact form or email [email protected]. Tell us the page, roughly when it happened and the email address used, if known. That gives us somewhere to start looking. Please do not send a child’s photograph or identity documents with the first message. We may need a reasonable check of a request before releasing information; we will investigate the concern and take the appropriate action.

Taking a break and leaving a game

Agree on breaks that take the player away from the screen. Stop if a game brings on dizziness, eyestrain, nausea or distress. Another round can wait. Loud sounds, flashing images and fast camera movement can make a game a poor fit, even when its subject seems fine. Check the sound and display before settling in.

A game may use fullscreen or lock the mouse pointer for its controls. Escape usually gets you out. Neither needs a password or a purchase. Requests for a camera, microphone, location, notifications or a download are separate choices: look at each one before allowing it. You do not need to grant them just to browse our catalog.

Tell us when something goes wrong

Please use our contact form to tell us which page you were on and what went wrong. The game title, approximate time, device and browser help us trace a problem. If it was an advert, describe what it showed and where it appeared. A screenshot can be emailed if useful; cover or crop out private details first. There is no need to click an advert or replay something upsetting to collect evidence.

A report may lead us to investigate an advert, fix a description or restrict a game. We cannot offer an instant reply or watch every conversation in independently operated games. If somebody’s safety is at immediate risk, seek help from the appropriate local service instead of waiting for our inbox.

You will find the rules for using the site in our Terms and Conditions. We revise this guide when the service changes. If something here is unclear, please ask.
