About The Legacy of Guy

Guy is a small purple creature with an unusually useful problem: his blood is acid. The Legacy of Guy turns that odd idea into a shooting game. You move him with the mouse and click to fire, so the same hand is responsible for staying out of trouble and returning fire.

The original instruction screen gives you a straightforward objective: clear the enemies and find the warp. Shooting is only part of the job, then. Once an area has been dealt with, the warp is the thing to look for rather than carrying on firing at an empty screen.

WildTwilight is credited on the original menu, which calls the game The Legacy of Guy: Guy's Endeavor. Its pale purple character, cloudy menu buttons and pool of red beneath the title make it quite easy to distinguish from other games simply called Guy. This guide concerns that older Flash edition.

How to play The Legacy of Guy

Defeat the enemies in the area and find the warp that takes Guy onward.

  1. Open Instructions before starting. The original diagram shows Guy, an enemy, the mouse control and the warp symbol.
  2. Move the mouse to guide Guy. Give yourself some space to change direction rather than moving straight into approaching enemies.
  3. Click to fire while keeping track of Guy's position. Movement is still important while you are attacking.
  4. When the enemies are cleared, look for the warp shown in the instructions. Use that as your next destination.

Tips for a better round

  • Learn how Guy follows the pointer before concentrating on firing. Sudden large mouse movements can make it harder to judge your position.
  • Leave yourself somewhere to move next. Focusing on one enemy is less useful if it puts Guy in a poor position against the others.
  • Remember the warp's appearance from the instruction panel. Recognising the exit is part of completing an area, not just a decorative detail.

Questions about The Legacy of Guy

Who is credited with the original game?

The title menu credits WildTwilight. Crazy Monkey Games also has a publisher page for this edition.

Do I move with WASD?

The documented controls use the mouse for movement and a click to fire, rather than keyboard movement.

What should I do after clearing the enemies?

Look for the warp. The original instructions pair defeating the enemies with finding it.
