About American Truck

An empty parking space looks quite generous until you try to put this truck in it. American Truck gives you a large yellow eighteen-wheeler and a city to manoeuvre through. The striped Stop marker is your destination. Getting there means watching the space around the whole vehicle, not just its nose.

The instructions are unusually blunt about the traffic. Hitting another car costs a life, and pedestrians must be kept out of harm's way. That makes the approach to a parking space part of the puzzle. A turn that gets the cab into the right place can still leave the rest of the truck badly positioned.

Arrow keys drive, and Space is the brake. It's worth learning that separate brake button before your first tight approach. You have a way to slow the truck deliberately while you line up with the marked space, rather than trying to fix every mistake with another big steering input.

How to play American Truck

Bring the truck into the parking space marked Stop while avoiding people and other vehicles.

  1. Read Instructions from the title screen, then choose Start.
  2. Locate the striped Stop marker and look at the route into it.
  3. Drive with the arrow keys. Leave enough space around the truck to make your turns.
  4. Use Space to brake as you approach the parking position.
  5. Line the vehicle up with the marked space without hitting another car or a pedestrian.

Tips for a better round

  • Look beyond the front of the cab when turning. The rest of the vehicle needs room too.
  • Slow down while there is still space to adjust the approach. A small correction is easier to manage than several hurried turns beside another car.

Questions about American Truck
