About Storm Boat

Storm Boat puts a combat craft in your hands. Its title screen calls the game Storm Boat: Vietnam Mayhem, and the publisher places the action in the Vietnam War. This is an arcade shooting mission rather than a sailing race: getting through the level and dealing with enemies are the tasks set out in Help.

Movement and shooting use different inputs. Either the arrow keys or WASD move the boat around the screen. The mouse sets your aim, and its left button fires. You don't have to point the craft at a target just because that is where you want the weapon aimed.

The instructions also tell you to collect bonus pickups to help the mission. That adds another decision while you're under fire. A useful-looking item can pull your attention away from the route ahead, so check where the boat will be heading before chasing it. The basic objective remains reaching the end of the level.

How to play Storm Boat

Reach the end of each level, destroy enemies along the way and collect helpful bonuses when you can.

  1. Open How To Play on the title screen, then select Play or New Game.
  2. Move the boat with the arrow keys or WASD. Get used to its position before concentrating on distant targets.
  3. Aim with the mouse and use the left button to fire.
  4. Keep moving through the level while watching for enemies and bonus pickups.
  5. Continue towards the level's end rather than letting every distraction dictate your route.

Tips for a better round

  • Treat movement and aiming as two jobs. Steering away from danger doesn't mean you must stop aiming at an enemy.
  • Look at the route to a bonus before going after it. A pickup is helpful only if reaching it doesn't ruin the mission.
