About Chess
Chess is a turn-based board game about making useful threats while keeping your own king safe. Each type of piece moves differently, and every move gives the opponent a chance to answer. The goal is checkmate: a position where the king is under attack and has no legal way to escape.
Begin by developing pieces toward useful squares and paying attention to what the opponent’s last move changed. A free-looking piece can be bait if taking it leaves your king or a more valuable piece exposed. Think at least one reply ahead, and check for forcing moves such as checks and direct captures before choosing a quiet move.
How to play Chess
Reach checkmate while protecting your king and using legal piece moves.
- Choose a side or opponent option from the menu.
- Select a piece and inspect its legal destination squares.
- Before moving, check what the opponent can capture in reply.
- Use your pieces together to restrict the opposing king.

Tips for a better round
- Develop several pieces before moving the same one repeatedly without a reason.
- After every opponent move, ask which square or piece is now under threat.
