About Escape the Boogeyman
Escape the Boogeyman is a preserved first-person horror game set inside a dark house. A weak flashlight is your guide, doors separate you from the next room, and standing still for too long is a poor way to stay safe. The aim is to find your way out before the darkness catches up with you.
This is the original Shockwave edition. Its opening menus, instructions and size selection are available here. Browser compatibility is limited: the 3D scene may remain blank after pressing Play.
How to play Escape the Boogeyman
Find the exit from the house while watching your surroundings and the remaining light.
- Press Begin and read the movement and door controls.
- Choose a game size, then press Play.
- Move through the house and use Space to open a door.
- If the 3D scene stays blank, this preserved edition is not rendering correctly in your browser.

Questions about Escape the Boogeyman
Why is the screen blank after Play?
The original game uses Shockwave 3D. Its menus can work even when the browser player cannot render the 3D scene. This limitation was also observed in our compatibility test.
