Fornax has a casino, a kingpin and some truly miserable weather. Warframe's new destination gets a December launch window in Digital Extremes' October 30 announcement, although the studio hasn't given it an exact release day.
The city is the opening location in Tau's new Star Chart. Further destinations will be added later. Fornax itself is an orbital ring, where the Hunra rules the criminal underworld and the Fornax Drowners form a new Sentient enemy faction. The official preview also describes black rain affecting the city's inhabitants.
Portau and Brysko
At the casino, players can try Portau, Warframe's original card game. Its suits are Blooms, Cores, Moons and Suns. Cards also turn up in Brysko's abilities: the new Warframe can throw explosive Portau cards and has a Hound Companion to help him in a fight.
That's quite a different sort of visit from arriving somewhere, clearing a mission and leaving. The card game is what we'd try first, partly to find out whether a table can become a regular stop between other jobs. We've all had a supposedly quick diversion turn into the evening's main activity. Fornax has to earn that time, though. We haven't played the update, so for now it's a reason to be curious.
An earlier date for returning players
Epoch Operation: Taubound runs until November 17. Details are linked from the Tau page, and its deadline arrives ahead of December's update.
If you're coming back after a break, start by checking what that event involves. Then go and play something. It's remarkably easy to spend an entire return visit reading menus and sorting out old objectives without actually enjoying a mission. Leave a few unfinished jobs for another night; Fornax will bring enough new ones of its own.
