Don't rush past the doors in the next Marvel Cosmic Invasion expansion. They are part of the fight. In its October 26 gameplay post, Tribute Games describes a castle where choosing the next room means choosing what kind of help, or trouble, the team will find.

Pick a room, pick a risk

Equipment, healing and events are among the door types. Other routes offer temporary unlimited resources or batteries for Reed Richards's Stabilizer. Victories help charge that device and delay Doom's plan. Getting beaten pushes up the rival Siege Gauge.

So the route isn't just scenery between brawls. Consider a group with one injured hero and three players who want a stronger attack. Taking the healing room might keep everyone together. Passing it might pay off, or leave someone spending the next encounter trying to stay alive. That's the sort of decision we'd like the mode to make interesting.

The announcement also describes Offense, Defense and Tactical perks applied to individual heroes. Steam's DLC listing puts the number at 12. Reed's Lab offers equipment, events and modifiers to unlock for later attempts.

Some groups probably won't need an MVP screen to decide who carried a run; they'll have been discussing it the whole time. Still, the developer's promise of individual builds is more interesting to us than another scoreboard. A useful defensive choice should have room beside a high damage total. We'll need to play the mode to find out whether that balance holds.

Two new fighters, one required base game

Doctor Doom and the Invisible Woman join the playable cast with The Siege of Castle Doom. Its official Steam page gives November 10, 2026 as the planned release date and requires the base game.

For now, the new gameplay details make a repeat visit sound more purposeful than simply replaying a favourite stage. We'd keep an eye on how quickly a team can choose its route and get back to fighting. Good decisions need a little breathing room, but a beat 'em up still has to keep moving.
