About Mindustry Classic
A turret without ammunition is just another thing for the enemy to break. Mindustry Classic makes you deal with the supply line as well as the shooting: drills produce materials, conveyors carry them, and your defences need a route to what they consume. The little mech you control can help fight, but it can't be everywhere at once.
This is the older, self-contained edition of Mindustry, not the current desktop release. Its pixel factory is quite readable once the first belts start moving. Watch an item leave a drill and follow it along the conveyor. If it stops halfway, you've found something worth fixing before you buy another turret.
How to play Mindustry Classic
Protect the core from enemy waves. If the core is destroyed, the game is lost.
- Start with Play, then Tutorial. It introduces the mech, building menu and supply lines one step at a time. New Game is there when you're ready to choose a map.
- Put a suitable drill on the resource you need. Select a conveyor from the building menu, rotate it and connect the output toward the core or a defence that uses those items.
- Build turrets and feed them ammunition. Move the mech with WASD, aim with the mouse and hold the left button to help shoot incoming enemies.
- Pause when a layout needs work. You can still place blocks while paused, so use the breathing room to trace a broken belt or plan another line before the next wave.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| WASD / Shift | Move the mech / boost. |
| Mouse and held left button | Aim and shoot when no building is selected; place a selected block. |
| Mouse wheel | Rotate the selected building. |
| Ctrl + mouse wheel | Zoom the view. |
| Right mouse button | Deselect a building, or remove a placed block. |
| Space | Pause or resume. |
Click or tap inside the game before using the keyboard. The fullscreen button below the player gives you more room; the restart button reloads the game.
Tips for a better round
- Follow the items, not just the belt arrows. One conveyor facing the wrong way can leave an otherwise sensible defence empty.
- Leave space for another line beside the first one. A compact factory is satisfying until its only route is blocked by your own buildings.
Questions about Mindustry Classic
Is this the newest Mindustry?
No. This page runs Mindustry Classic build 40. Its menus, blocks and progression belong to that older version.
Can I build while paused?
Yes. Pause stops movement and combat, but you can still select and place blocks. It is useful when learning a new supply route.
