There are two dates to keep straight here. BornMonkie's game went on sale on July 23; October 22 is the scheduled subscription arrival. Solo Game publishes the PC edition. We're writing ahead of the day's rollout, so the Xbox app is the place to check whether it's available on your account yet.
The hat does the hard work
The story starts with a farm, 99 chickens and one duck left behind when aliens arrive. Dodo goes after the UFO to retrieve the chickens. This is how a perfectly ordinary farmyard problem becomes a trip through a glitched dimension. Well, ordinary until the UFO.
BornMonkie builds the puzzles around a magical cap. Put it to work and the view changes between side-on 2D and third-person 3D. A gap, ledge or blocked route can look quite different after a switch. The idea is to keep checking what the other view reveals as you find a route through a level.
Dodo can glide, swim and collect stardust along the way, according to the Steam page. There are secret paths to look for, and a capybara called Capie sells more caps. The PC version even assigns Q to quacking. No complicated explanation needed for that particular control.
Before adding it to your queue
We'd start with a look at the gameplay footage, especially the moments when the camera changes. Cute characters help a game catch someone's eye. Watching a puzzle unfold should tell you more about whether you'd enjoy spending an evening with it.
For anyone who tends to put down a platformer after the fifth attempt at the same jump, the change of viewpoint is the interesting part of this one. It gives you something else to try. That observation comes from the game's described design; this is a news report, rather than a hands-on review or a promise about its difficulty.
One practical point for PlayFG readers: Dodo Duckie needs a download and either a purchased copy or the appropriate subscription. It won't run as a free game inside this page. If you already have Game Pass and the camera trick appeals to you, today's listing is a reason to take a closer look.
